| Wayne Olson Team Leader Wayne founded Heartland along with Bernadette in 1987 based on a love for agriculture and a belief that research and data management to understand that research are the key to the future of agriculture. He is responsible for corporate team development, software design, and training at Heartland. He has over 20 years experience in conducting field research trials. He received his B.S. degree in agronomy from South Dakota State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from North Dakota State University in Agronomy and Weed Science. Wayne has also been working in the area of agricultural research data management since starting with punch cards in 1973 and building his PC from a Radio Shack kit in 1979. He was the creator of the Pesticide Data Management Program (PDMP) which was the first software of its type for research data management and the predecessor to FieldPro. Wayne still maintains his involvement with field trials in the area of GLP residue and efficacy trials.
