FPDirect: Electronic Data Collection

FPDirect is a software program that lets you record data with a hand held computer and transfer it to FieldPro without pencil and paper. FPDirect may also be used for data collection when using a small computer in an environment that will not allow running the full FieldPro system. FPDirect brings the data collection capabilities of FieldPro to the field. Some of these capabilities are:

Evaluating trials such as those viewed on a University tour for which you have not yet created a trial in FieldPro. Collect the data in FPDirect at the tour, create a trial in FieldPro based on the tour book after you return to your office, then download the data that was stored in FPDirect into the FieldPro trial.
Download one or many trial randomization's from FieldPro into the hand held for easy data entry in the field.
Enter data for several headers at a time for a single plot in the same spreadsheet form used in FieldPro.
Data entry may be continued at any time, even if the system was turned off. FPDirect lets you restart on any plot in any rep for any header being evaluated.
Data can be viewed in treatment by rep order after entry to look for incorrectly entered data (i.e. a 95 that was entered as a 59) before leaving the trial site.
A trial may be reevaluated without reentry of data headers, i.e. for a later evaluation of the same parameters. Simply select the option to blank data and reenter the evaluation date.
Validated codes for evaluation headers may be downloaded from FieldPro or use your own most common descriptions that will be validated on import to FieldPro. If you do not have the code you need when in the field, you can continue anyway and you will be prompted to correct the code in FieldPro.
Easily upload collected data directly into FieldPro by following the screen prompts provided when you activate the FPDirect file transfer option in Tools/Trial/ Data Exchange/FPDirect.
Custom data downloads to fit a specific need can also be provided.

FPDirect is a DOS program that is not hardware specific and is designed to run on hand held 286 or higher data recorders with a minimum of 2 megabytes of RAM and 2 megabytes of data storage, like the HarvestMaster PRO 2000 which has proven to be rugged enough to withstand the field environment. The number of trials that can be stored in FPDirect at one time is dependent on the amount of data storage provided by the hardware.
